HUNTSVILLE TOWN PARK - ICE RINK

Town Council Rep: Richard Sorensen

Ice Rink Update 1-23-2010  Condition:  Good++

The Ice Rink is open with a good base established.  We have tried to clear the ice in between the storms of the last week but have not applied water for about 7 days.

As of 10 PM Saturday, the rink is covered in a few inches of snow although many larger areas have been cleared by shovel.  Our goal is to have the rink cleared and brushed Sunday by noon or so providing the snow storms have ended.

Current ice conditions have been upgraded to good or better .  There are still a few uneven areas that will improve over time, but most of the rink is in good or better condition.   Some locals say it is in better condition than it has ever been in previous years.

Rental Skates are available at the Texas Pride Barbecue during their normal business hours.

Our skates are hand me downs from the Weber Ice Sheet and have been well used.  Some are missing foot bed pads although we have tried to supply Texas Pride with skates of each size complete with foot beds.  The daily rental fee will be $2 to cover Texas Pride's distribution costs.

The recent Ogden Valley News article mistakenly stated that the costs were to help with rink maintenance costs.  As always, we are always looking for donations to help keep the rink going.  It is built and maintained by volunteers, but there are many associated costs such as fuel, water and grass reseeding in the spring.

To rent skates you must fill out a release of liability form which you can download by clicking the link below...

Ice Skating in Huntsville

Ice Skating in Huntsville has long been a local tradition.  From late December till early March, our park becomes one of the premier outdoor skating rinks in the west.  We recently purchased our version of a Zamboni (a 6’ wide tractor mounted sweeper) and our ice has been pristine.
Located at 300 S 7400 E  Huntsville, tables and covered pavilion available, so bring a lunch or snack and have a great time skating.
